Legend holds that horsehair pottery was discovered by a pueblo potter whose long hair blew against a piece of pottery she was removing from a hot kiln, stuck, and carbonized. The result was so interesting that she duplicated it with hair from a horse's tail.
These pieces were thrown by resident potter Amy Bishop. They were fired using the Raku method and were decorated using hair from the horses of Horse and Buddy! Horse Hair Pottery is extremely delicate, so handle with care. Small surface cracks are normal due to the volatile nature of the firing process. Horse Hair Pottery is not food safe.
